Description

Hydrogen bromide is a kind of inorganic compound, miscible with water, can be miscible in ethanol, acetic acid, under standard conditions for colorless gas.An aqueous solution of hydrogen bromide, colorless or yellowish in color. It has a similar irritating odor with hydrochloric acid, slightly smoky phenomenon, and the color will gradually darken when exposed to air or sunlight due to free bromine. Hydrobromic acid has strong reducibility, strong acidity and slight smoke. It can be oxidized to the element bromine by oxygen and other oxidants in the air. It can react with methoxy to form bromomethane and base to form bromides.

Application

Used as an analytical reagent for the determination of sulfur and selenium, the separation of tin from arsenic and antimony, and the determination of bismuth, zinc and iron.

Used as alkylation catalyst in petrochemical field; It is also a good solvent for metallic minerals and a basic raw material for the manufacture of various inorganic bromides and some alkyl bromides.
